Flightless Feathers

Flightless Feathers, 2D Art
Flightless Feathers
I have admired birds since I was young and remembered stumbling upon a National Geographic documentary about macaws and being overwhelmed with fascination! Hearing, reading, and seeing the discussion about them being on the brink of extinction sunk my heart but motivated me to help spread awareness about their alarming decrease in population. This resulted in me relying on not just my voice but my art to inform others about the situation and led me to conjure up a detailed drawing of a green and blue macaw. In the process, bright colored pencils and chalk pastels were used against a black paper surface to allow for bold contrast. My goal with it is to essentially attract the common eye and engage many for an opportunity to learn from and educate others about the endangerment of macaws.
