Praying Mantis painting was inspired by personal observation and study. The hyper-realistic closeup was an exciting challenge and proved to be time consuming and difficult. The goal was to make the mantis POP! forward from the blurred, green background and appear to be a photograph from across the room. The large format (16x20") makes it even more impressive when viewed in person. My only hope is that it will be as eye-catching in an online submission format!
