My piece is a charcoal piece that depicts an orca performing a flip while its fins are pierced by hooks. My main inspiration came from my love of orcas as a young child. I wanted to help show how these animals are being mistreated. I started off with a sketch which was then followed by the first coat of vinyl charcoal. I then went in with compressed charcoal and started to shade in the main portions of the orca. I then went to work on the background, and my last step was adding in the white highlights.
